I don't have a lot of specifics in mind for other characters. For any eras: poor judgement calls with Nie Huaisang or anything post-canon related to his overall involvement, being a pain in the ass at Lan Xichen and somehow bonding regardless, antagonizing Xue Yang, getting to know Xiao Xingchen & Song Lan better, anything with canonmates really.

OTHER AUs
I usually end up giving characters a thousand different AUs/verses so odds are some will end up here as they surface!

Loose, loose ideas in place: Star Wars (any era but OT or Order 66 are faves), WWX is a werewolf (modern or sci-fi > european-based fantasy), anything remotely cyberpunk (anything with stacks and sleeves, hoo boy)

Wei Wuxian, Wei Ying, the Yiling Laozu. Once the head disciple of the YunmengJiang clan and ranked fourth on the list of best-looking young men in the cultivation world, he was known equally for both his near-unmatched skill and irreverant temperament. A series of events--most of which he refuses to discuss--led to him being thrown into the deadly Burial Mounds of Yiling: a mass grave teeming with resentful energy. Despite the cultivation world's expectations, he returned to polite society with the ability to control resentment and won them their war, only to have them turn against him when he refused to become a tool in their political schemes.

He stood against the sects, stood with the innocents they deemed enemies, and fled the cultivation world. The sects painted him evil, lured him out into the open with promise of family, and turned him villain. He died in the same place he'd won their war and stayed dead for sixteen long years until he was unceremoniously summoned back to life in order to help unravel an old mystery that might happen to clear his name.


Semi-compliant with CQL canon, with middling deviations into book/donghua territory (post-Burial Mounds Laozu hairstyle, for one). If the spirit moves me to make serious character choices between the two I'll try to list them here. Basics: necromancy instead of puppets, no second flute, actual grandmaster of demonic cultivation instead of yin iron (but this one is more macro level and up for handwaving if it interferes too much with CQL plot points).

Canon point usually defaults to anytime between his three month disappearance and the events at Nightless City OR anytime after his post-death return. I'd prefer to keep interactions with Lan Wangji in any of the pining stages of their relationship unless we discuss otherwise or develop beyond that point through interactions!

BACKTAGGING   Please yes. I have a horrible tendency to forget what exists in my inbox and half the time I struggle with brain fog anyway, so I'm perfectly fine with whatever time has passed between tags.
THREADHOPPING   Totally cool with it for texts, especially if there's previous interactions between those involved. I'd rather keep it out of actual scenes unless there's prior discussion.
FOURTHWALLING   Not really interested in exploring it.
SENSITIVE TOPICS   CQL, and MDZS even moreso, tend to deal with topics like necromancy, zombies, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, death, and a decent level of gore.
STYLE   I generally default to present-tense prose (and I'm almost as comfy with past-tense prose). I can do action tags but I inevitably end up in prose territory anyway. I usually try to match whoever I'm writing with regardless. I do prefer shorter replies in tags—one to two good paragraphs suits me fine as long as there's a good hook. Once upon a time I used to be better at long tags, but my ability to focus just isn't what it used to be these days.
SHIPPING   I'm not big on ships based on assumed CR. I'll indulge from time to time, but for the most part I prefer a little bit of plotting and discussion over jumping right into the deep end, even if it's just to make sure we're on the same page. Lan Wangji is the GOAT, hard stop, but I'm down to explore ships beyond him, too! Just be prepared for a lot of oblivious dumbassery and self-denial from this fool. Open to any genders, potential shipping partners preferred to be within his own age bracket (aka no Juniors, etc).
SMUT   I'm game for it, but it's not a must. I prefer smut that's integral to the plot in some way or that's heavily emotion driven. I'm not really interested in smut that's based on assumed CR.
